World Cup 2022 Bracket
The road to the final is planned out, as seen in the bracket right below.
Let’s probe deep into the bracket and find out your favorite team’s path.
Round of 16
A1 vs B2
B1 vs A2
C1 vs D2
D1 vs C2
E1 vs F2
F1 vs E2
G1 vs H2
H1 vs G2
Group A teams will play their Round of 16 matches against Group B. The group winner will face the runner-up of the counterpart. Similarly, C vs. D, E vs. F, and G vs. H teams will match up in the last 16.
Hence, if Argentina gets through, they could face France or Denmark.
Brazil’s potential opponent in the Round of 16 could be Portugal or Uruguay, given they qualify.
Quarter-Finals
Q1 – (A1 vs B2) vs (C1 vs D2)
Q2 – (E1 vs F2) vs (G1 vs H2)
Q3 – (B1 vs A2) vs (D1 vs C2)
Q4 – (F1 vs E2) vs (H1 vs G2)
Let’s assume Argentina finishes the group stage as C1 and beats D2 to reach the quarter-finals. Then, their quarter-final opponent will be A1 or B2. If the Netherlands finish as A1 and beats B2 to reach the last 8, they will face Argentina in that scenario.
If England and France both finish as their group winners and reach the last 8, they will meet in the quarter-finals. The same goes for the E1 and G1, and so on.
Hence, if Brazil finishes as G1 and reaches the quarter-finals, their opponent will be E1 or F2. Likewise, if Brazil finishes as G2 and reaches the last 8, their opponent will be F1 or E2.
Semi-Finals
S1 – WQ1 vs WQ2
S2 – WQ3 vs WQ4
Hence, the World Cup 2022 bracket confirms that Brazil and Argentina are on a collision course in the semi-finals if both teams finish as the group winners (C1 and G1) and go far.
Again, if both teams finish as group runners-up (C2 and G2), they could meet in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Brazil and Argentina cannot meet before the final if one team finishes as a group runner-up and the other as group winners.
Let’s figure out Argentina’s potential semi-final opponent. If Argentina finishes as C1, their opponent will be E1, F2, G1, or H2.
If Argentina finishes as C2, their potential opponents in the last 4 are F1, E2, H1, and G2.
Now, you can figure out the potential road to the final of any of your favorite teams.
