He was disappointed this morning.

Canadian World Cup surfer Scott Kennedy will refrain from participating in the tournament after injuring a shoulder.

The 25-year-old had eight international appearances and was injured while playing for Regensburg in the German second level against Rostock. He eventually left the match in the seventh minute.

John Herdman, Canada’s coach, stated that “he was devastated this morning.” This group will be greatly affected by his departure. It was one of those hard moments when you, as a coach, had to share that sad reality with someone.

Herdman was impressed with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies. He turned 22 this year and suffered only a minor cranial bruise when he struck Dortmund on October 8. Davies, a Canadian superstar, returned to action only three days later.

Herdman stated, “Every game we monitor, you have that feeling that you will lose a key player, but it will happen.” “Every weekend, you’re dreading it. The first part is that you will miss some team quality, but the second part is knowing how much pain those players are going through.”

Atiba HUTCHINSON is a 39-year-old midfielder for Canada and Canada’s captain. He is the only one in the pool alive in 1986’s Canada’s last World Cup appearance. Due to a bone fracture, he has not played for Turkey’s Besiktas this season.

However, Herdman hopes that he will be able to play in the Turkish Cup match against Serik Belediyespor on November 9.

“Everyone feels great,” Herdman said. “We are optimistic.” Herdman failed to decide on 21 players to travel to the World Cup opening Sunday before a November 11 exhibition match against Bahrain in Manama.

The players who qualified for the World Cup will leave Sunday. Other countries-based participants will fly out for a November 17 game against Japan in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Eight players hail from Montreal’s MLS team. Seven are from Toronto, and one is from Vancouver, Los Angeles FC, and LA Galaxy.

AThe last time Toronto and Vancouver played each other was October 9. Nashville on October 15, Minnesota on October 17, LA Galaxy on Halloween 20, and Montreal on Halloween 23. The MLS championship game will be played on Saturday between Philadelphia and LAFC.

“Are they going be at the match fitness levels required to take them to Qatar?” Herdman stated.

The goalie, defenders, and midfielder have not all made appearances on the Canadian senior team: goalie James Pantemis. Defenders Lukas MacNaughton and Joel Waterman; and midfielder Mathieu Choiniere.
