Christian Eriksen Is Back With Denmark at World Cup in Qatar

Summary

When he returned from cardiac arrest in last year s UEFA Champions League Final, Christian Eriksen’s primary goal was to play in center stage.

It was likely among the first conversations I’d had with the doctor. It’s about me playing in the World Cup if everything goes well. That was the dream at the time.

Few of those who saw Eriksen lying on the ground as paramedics and teammates rushed to aid him would have had an image of it as possible.

Among the world’s most famous soccer players, Christian Eriksen will again be expected to play for Denmark after recovering from heart surgery 18 months ago. Most of soccer’s global audience and the country were privy to his medical crisis in 2018.

The Best Playmakers

After a superb comeback, Eriksen will return to professional soccer by winning the 2019-20 season. First with Brentford and then Manchester United – showing that he is not only the best footballer in the world but among the best.

He first returned to the national team, most recently at the Soccer World Cup Draw Championship. Only two minutes after having been substituted in a game for the Netherlands. He caught not one but two long-range shots this past month.

I feel even further comfortable than I do, according to Eriksen. Who spoke during last month’s international break about his passion for representing Denmark at this summer’s World Cup. There is nothing that can stand in my way.

Eriksen is Denmark’s best player; however, he’s far from the only reason the team needs to make an effort to qualify for this year’s World Cup. His difficulty earning Denmark a berth at Euro 2020 only seemed to cement the players’ team bond.

Denmark advanced to the final eight of the competition before losing to England. Then qualified with a full 9-0 record for its World Cup quarterfinals.

I think this team can do better than previous teams, like the Denmark squad Kasper Hjulmand spoke about. When I recall the England Euro club contest at Wembley, I believe we can play better than we did that day.

Good Chance

Previously, Denmark beat World Cup champion France 2-0 in its final Nations League game. If we can reach that level again, we also have a chance at a good World Cup result. According to Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen following the victory over France.

Denmark will play France, Australia, and Tunisia in the Preliminary Round of the World Cup 2022 in Group D. Denmark lost just one qualifying game, giving credence to a midfield led by veteran goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, team captain Simon Kjaer and center-back Andreas Christensen.

Striker Mikkel Damsgaard has become a star at only 22, while forward Stade Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 22, has added another alignment to midfield. There’s no question as to where the goals will come from. Joakim Maehle, fullback, was the co-top scorer for Denmark in the qualifying, while Yussuf Poulsen, striker, only had one goal.
