Injury-struck Pakistan face Sri Lanka for a spot in the Asia Cup Final
It’s a straight shootout between Pakistan and Sri Lanka who lost against India in their last outings. Sri Lanka, having a better NRR, will qualify for the Final if the rain washes out the match.
India snapped Sri Lanka’s 13-match winning streak in their last game. Though Sri Lanka bowled out team India for 213-10, Dunith Wellalage’s fifer (5 for 40) and brilliant performance with the bat went in vain as India won by 41 runs. The Lankans have now bowled their opponents out in 14 straight games.
Pakistan will look to come out of their disastrous 228-run defeat against India, which was a timely wake-up call according to Pakistan’s head coach.
“We haven’t lost a game for three months, and it’s a timely reminder for us to turn up every day, put our best on the park,” said Pakistan head coach Grant Bradburn. “It’s actually a gift that over the last two days we haven’t quite done that.”
Pakistan will miss out on a handful of key players due to injuries, including first-string pacers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. It will be a tough challenge for Pakistan against the home side.
