After resting the opening week, Samoa are all set to play their first game in the Rugby World Cup 2023 this afternoon, against Chile. The Pool D fixture will take place at Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux.
Last week, Chile made history by playing their first-ever Rugby World Cup game. Chile’s brilliant fans ramped up the atmosphere as the South American side scored their first try just five minutes into the game against Japan, eventually losing by 42-12.
After sitting out from International rugby for three years, former All Blacks Lima Sopoaga, Steven Luatua, and Charlie Faumuina, and ex-Wallaby Christian Leali’ifano are now eligible to play for the land of their forefathers, Samoa.
Pool D also includes England, Argentina, and Japan. Both Samoa and Chile will look to get their first victory to keep on the hunt for a berth in the quarter-finals.
