Szymon Żurkowski was born in Tychy, Poland, on 25 September 1997. He began his football career at the youth academy of Gwarek Zabrze in 2006. In 2012, he moved to the youth academy of Górnik Zabrze. In 2016, he moved to Fiorentina.
He joined Fiorentina for the 2019-20 season but did not make any appearances for the first team. He was then loaned out to Empoli for the 2020-21 season, where he played 28 games and scored two goals in Serie B, the second tier of Italian football. He helped Empoli win the Serie B title and secure promotion to Serie A.
In January 2022, Żurkowski returned to Fiorentina after Genoa did not exercise their option to buy him. He debuted for Fiorentina on January 16, 2022, in a 4-0 win over Torino. He scored his first goal for Fiorentina on February 6, 2022, in a 3-0 win over Venezia. He has since become a regular starter for Fiorentina under manager Vincenzo Italiano.
