Top 10 Teams World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to be held in Qatar this November. The vibe of the biggest football tournament on the planet is all around us. We have all the 32 qualified teams, groups, and schedules in our hands.

Here in this article, we will pick top 10 teams who would be in with a great chance to win the World Cup.

#1 Argentina

Argentina’s World Cup campaign 2018 in Russia ended in a mess. They barely made it to the Round of 16 and were knocked out by France. Now four years later, they are in great shape, unbeaten in 33 matches. They beat Brazil in Maracana to be the Copa America Champions in 2021. Argentina destroyed Italy by 3-0 goals to win the Finalissima 2022. What a story it would be if Lionel Messi won his last World Cup.

#2 Brazil

Our next pick is Brazil. Tite’s men are ranked number 1 according to FIFA. They were unbeaten in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers and finished top ahead of Argentina. Neymar and Co thrashed Korea Republic by 5-1 goals and Japan by 1-0 in June friendlies. Can they turn the table to beat Argentina?

#3 Spain

La Roja ranks third in our picks. They are drawn in Group E with Germany in the World Cup and will be the favorites to win the Group. Luis Enrique’s men showed steady improvement in the Nations League in June. They drew with Portugal and Czech and before beating Switzerland and Czech to top their group after matchday 4. It could be Spain’s World Cup led by young guns Pedri and Gavi. Only problem could be their lack of a big striker up front.

#4 Netherlands

The Netherlands are our number 4 pick ahead of the likes of France and Germany. A mouth-watering victory by 1-4 goals in Brussels over Belgium tells that the Oranje are ready to go for the World Cup 2022. Louis Van Gaal, the man who led the team in the semi-finals in 2014, is back to lead his side once more. The Netherlands are sitting top of their group in Nations League after matchday 4.

#5 Germany

Germany’s Euro 2020 (held in 2021) didn’t go as planned. But they quickly recovered under Hansi Flick. They are on a 13-match unbeaten run. Germany  thrashed Italy 5-1 in the Nations League to exhibit what is to come in Qatar.

#6 France

We had to keep the World Champions France at 6th after their Nations League performances. They are sitting at bottom of their group with two home defeats against Denmark and Croatia and two draws. Despite having Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema at their disposal, Didier Deschamps needs to sort things out.

#7 England

We would pick England way up our picks if we wrote this article before the Nations League. The Three Lions put up a disappointing display in the Nations League, losing against Hungary by 0-4 goals at home. Southgate’s side are at the bottom of their group with two defeats against Hungary and draws against Germany and Italy. However, England could make it to the semi-finals if Southgate sorted things before Qatar.

#8 Belgium

A defeat at home by 1-4 goals against the Netherlands put a question mark on Belgium. However, they demolished Poland by 6 goals to prove that they are not to be written off. As Eden Hazard is not in his prime and Lukaku is losing shape, we keep them at 8th.

#9 Denmark

The Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark proved in the Nations League that they have a full gas tank. They beat France to earn their spot into the top 10 of our picks. We will see Christian Eriksen back in his side in the World Cup in Qatar.

#10 Portugal

Our list would be incomplete if we didn’t put Cristiano Ronaldo in here. Portugal has a star-studded squad and you cannot write them off. They are sitting second in their group in the Nations League behind Spain. Cristiano Ronaldo would go all guns blazing in Qatar in what could be his last World Cup.
