Summary
The World Cup begins in two weeks, bringing the attention of millions worldwide. This is because 2022 marks the first time that the tournament will take place in Qatar. Marking a significant change for one of soccer’s oldest and most prestigious tournaments.
As the vernacular goes, ‘It’s raining men, Hallelujah!’ Not in the traditional sense of rain (literally), but when it comes to tennis events, the French Open kicks off the spring and summer playing period.
There are many unresolved and troubling issues here, including the awarding of the tournament to a Gulf state, where migrant workers were employed. Also, they died in conditions that were not safe or humane.
There’s also the global controversy around FIFA’s decision to stage some matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar despite reports about severe.
Despite that, 32 teams will participate, and the opening game will be Qatar playing Ecuador on November 20 at 17:00 CET (16:00 GMT) in Al Bayt stadium.
The 2022 World Cup was announced and will start on November 21. Before Qatar came on the scene, the Netherlands vs Senegal and England vs Iran would have been played.
Because the host nation traditionally opened the tournament, it was decided that Qatar would play against Ecuador to extend the tradition.
The team is Already Getting Prepared
The leagues in Europe recently stopped playing matches so that they could prepare for the tournament. Firstly, Liga MX (Mexico’s league) has also stopped, which means there is no recent competition. Secondly, in the USA and Japan, the leagues have also ceased games to prepare for Qatar and have focused on those two countries.
