A well-known FC Barcelona player, Mamadou Fall announced his unannounced departure from the team on Instagram on Monday. 

According to some reports from outlets like Mundo Deportivo, it said that Fall had been a regular under Rafa Martinez in the reserve team and was also said that he may be heading into the first team shortly. 

The aforementioned source additionally revealed last week that negotiations were in progress for a possible long-term signing that would have cost about $4 million (€4.3 million).

However, the player all of a sudden announced his departure from the La Liga side through his Instagram account which came out of nowhere, calling it a “nice journey” with the club. 

Who is Mamadou Fall? 

Mamadou Ibra Mbacke Fall is a Senegalese football player who was born on November 21, 2002 in Rufisque, Senegal. The 21-year-old stands 1.87 m (6 ft 2 in) tall.

Mamadou Fall, popularly known as Mbacke, played for Primera Federacion team Barcelona Atletic as a centre-back  he committed to a one-year loan from Los Angeles FC to the club’s reserve squad, Barca Atletic, last summer. 

On June 5, 2021, Fall agreed to a two-year contract with Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC and the following month, on June 11, 2021, he was loaned by Los Angeles FC to the USL Championship team, the Las Vegas Lights. 

Fall started and played 79 minutes in his professional debut for the team later that evening against San Antonio FC while the match ended in a 1-1 draw. 

Fall had earlier trained with the club’s youth squads. He remained in Spain until June 20, 2023. After that, he was loaned to Villarreal on August 25, 2022. 

The following day, the loan arrangement was approved, and the player was assigned to Segunda Division’s reserves. 

As per a report in Forbes, he was described as a “center back who stands out for being excellent in the air.”
